@Lukaszkolo1

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! Good day!  I reviewed the post about a drop in FPS when games are played and the charger is unplugged. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb effort and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting.  Kudos to you on that score.   You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Are these online games or installed games on the computer that you are trying to play?
  • Did you try with multiple browsers like Chrome or Firefox if they are online games?

In the meantime, you may try the below steps, as even if the game is compatible with your system hardware it may have a slow performance because you are using the windows 8, 8.1 or 10 as the OS uses most of the CPU & graphics card usage, you might want to reduce the visual effects for windows to save the amount of CPU & Graphics card usage required to run your game properly.

 Here's how you do it:

·        Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.

·        Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.

·        In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.

·         click Apply and ok...this should do the trick.

Then try playing different games and check. If it still does not work, try playing the game at a reduced frame rate and check.

  • Please uninstall the ACPI battery drivers from device manager.
  • Reset all power plans to factory defaults and then select high-performance option power from power options from this link: http://hp.care/2rUUbXB
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2EY7Y9A and follow the on-screen instructions.

Other things to try:

  • Check this document http://hp.care/2B4vyiX to improve FPS.
  • Although it is for Omen series, the steps should still be relevant for your computer also.
  • Please check this link:http://hp.care/2B7qGK0 for slow performance issues with the notebook. There is a section regarding games not working correctly. It is a guided troubleshooter.
  • Try to reduce the game Frame Rate.
  • Play the game with a lower resolution
  • Also, try multiple browsers like Chrome and Firefox if this is an online game
  • Also, reset this browser and check again.

If you have Intel and AMD switchable graphics then try to ensure that switchable graphics is enabled for both charger and battery from this link: http://hp.care/2xbrRVP

Also check this link: http://hp.care/2jmCUXY to download and install "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver."

This should do the trick for you.

Also, check this information that you need to know:

  • Please note that the notebook is powered by the battery for normal use.
  • When you play games, they require power-hungry graphics, intensive system resources and high power to play correctly. The battery does not have the firepower to supply this to these games.
  • When it is connected to a charger, the charger supplies the required power to a great extent for the games to play smoothly.
  • It is important to remember that the notebook's battery is only standby power and not the main source of power.

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.   Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
