Hi @Vaibhav101,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! Good day!  I reviewed the post about a drop in FPS when games are played and the charger is unplugged. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb effort and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting.  Kudos to you on that score.   You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Is it a recent occurrence? Did it happen after a windows or software update?
  • Did you try any troubleshooting?
  • Are these online games or installed games on the computer that you are trying to play?
  • Did you try with multiple browsers like Chrome or Firefox if they are online games?

In the meantime, you may try the below steps, as even if the game is compatible with your system hardware it may have a slow performance because you are using the windows 8, 8.1 or 10 as the OS uses most of the CPU & graphics card usage, you might want to reduce the visual effects for windows to save the amount of CPU & Graphics card usage required to run your game properly.

 Here's how you do it:

·        Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.

·        Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.

·        In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.

·         click Apply and ok...this should do the trick.

Then try playing different games and check. If it still does not work, try playing the game at a reduced frame rate and check.

  • Please uninstall the ACPI battery drivers from device manager.
  • Reset all power plans to factory defaults and then select high-performance option power from power options from this link: http://hp.care/2rUUbXB
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2B71jYA and follow the on-screen instructions.

Other things to try:

  • Check this document http://hp.care/2B4vyiX to improve FPS.
  • Although it is for Omen series, the steps should still be relevant for your computer also.
  • Please check this link:http://hp.care/2B7qGK0 for slow performance issues with the notebook. There is a section regarding games not working correctly. It is a guided troubleshooter.

If you have Intel and AMD switchable graphics then try to ensure that switchable graphics is enabled for both charger and battery from this link: http://hp.care/2xbrRVP

Also check this link: http://hp.care/2jmCUXY to download and install "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver."

This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.   Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead

If your problem still persists @Vaibhav101, i wouod like to threw in for the record, i have an omen 15t, with the i7 6700HQ and gtx 960M 4GB OC. When I unplug, it happens to me too. I believe it is a windows based occurrence, as I believe windows will override any powerplan settings to try and help conserve battery life unplugged, despite the power okan or even specific settings applied. I have tried to get around it but to no avail.

Hi @Vaibhav101,

I read the quick reply. thanks for the response. Brilliant efforts, splendid troubleshooting skills coupled with immense patience have been displayed by you. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

I understand that you were able to solve the issue by uninstalling the ACPI drivers. I asked you to do it only for the first time. Those are the battery drivers. It will remove any corrupt version of the drivers and then when you restart the computer will reinstall the ACPI drivers back as they are needed for the battery to work correctly.

This step was suggested to you to get rid of the corrupt ACPI drivers and at the restart to install a clean set of drivers which get installed by default as the operating system recognizes the battery and installs them.

So you don't need to uninstall them each time. It needs to be done only once. Hope this answers your question.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care, stay healthy, keep smiling big and have a fabulous year ahead. 🙂

Cheers!

Hi @Vaibhav101,

Thanks for the response. It great to have you back. I have read the post.Did you follow all the prescribed steps from my previous post? If it has not been done, I request you to perform each step till the issue gets resolved including the step to delete the software for the graphics drivers and updating the bios, chipset and graphics drivers from the steps and links given in y previous post.

Follow the links for FP, slow performance and also update the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver.

In short please perform all the required steps and it should fi the issue. If the problem persists, then create a new local user account as an administrator from this link: http://hp.care/2rZfJBC and check if the issue gets fixed. It should do the trick for you.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Take care and do have a blessed year ahead.v:)
