I have seen many people run into this issue as well:

 

Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)

F2 System Diagnostics

 

but in my case, it resolved on its own after almost an hour. But now my laptop is much slower than it was before. 

Never ran into this issue before so I'm not sure what to do to.

Encountering a "3F0 Boot Device Not Found" error typically indicates a problem recognizing the hard drive or SSD during startup. Although it resolved on its own, the subsequent performance issues suggest there might still be underlying concerns. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and possibly resolve the slowness.

 

Perform Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to check the health of your hard drive or SSD. This will help identify if there are any physical issues with the storage device itself.

Check Storage Health:

  • Look into the storage health through the Windows 11 Storage settings to see if there are any errors or issues flagged that might be causing performance slowdowns.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure that all your drivers, especially chipset, storage, and BIOS, are up-to-date. Use the HP Support Assistant to find and install any necessary updates.

Disk Cleanup and Optimization:

  • Run Disk Cleanup to remove unnecessary files. Go to "This PC," right-click on your primary drive, select "Properties," then click "Disk Cleanup."
  • Consider running defragmentation if you use an HDD (not an SSD), as this can sometimes help improve performance.

Boot Configuration and Settings Check:

  • Access BIOS settings (press F10 during startup) and ensure that the boot order is correctly set, with your primary hard drive listed first.
  • Check that the BIOS recognizes your hard drive correctly.

System Performance Settings:
