Hi @ShinKo2 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are experiencing low FPS and frame drops while gaming on your Victus 15 laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to improve performance:

  • Check System Requirements: Ensure that your laptop meets the minimum system requirements for the games you are playing. Even though your laptop may have good hardware specifications, certain settings and background processes can affect performance.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website (NVIDIA or AMD) to download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card. Software and Drivers for Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000
  • Adjust In-Game Settings: Lowering graphics settings in games like Valorant, COD Warzone, Apex Legends, and Fortnite can significantly improve FPS. Try reducing settings such as resolution, texture quality, shadow quality, and anti-aliasing.
  • Disable Background Processes: Close any unnecessary programs and background processes running on your laptop while gaming. These processes can consume system resources and affect gaming performance.
  • Check Power Settings: Make sure your laptop is set to high-performance mode in the power settings. This ensures that your system is utilizing maximum resources for gaming.
  • Update Windows and Drivers: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates. Also, update other drivers such as chipset drivers, network drivers, and audio drivers.
  • Monitor Temperature: Overheating can cause performance issues and throttling in laptops. Use monitoring software to check the temperature of your CPU and GPU while gaming. If temperatures are high, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or using a laptop cooling pad.
  • Disable V-Sync: In some cases, disabling vertical sync (V-Sync) can improve FPS by allowing your GPU to render frames as fast as possible, though it may result in screen tearing.
  • Consider Hardware Upgrades: If your laptop's hardware is not powerful enough to run games smoothly, consider upgrading components such as RAM or storage to improve performance.
  • Optimize Game Settings: Some games have optimization guides or community-recommended settings that can help improve performance on various hardware configurations. Look for guides specific to the games you are playing.
