Chrome OS

My Chromebook is updated to 126.0.6478.244. After completing the update the Google play store is no longer on my Chromebook. When I go to the play store online to download apps that way it shows that its not able to be installed on my device.

Hi @JMichelle,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the update may have caused an issue with the Google Play Store on your HP Chromebook. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue.

Check if Google Play Store is Enabled:

  • Go to Settings on your Chromebook.
  • Navigate to Apps > Google Play Store.
  • Ensure that the Google Play Store is turned on. If it's off, turn it on.

Update Chrome OS:

  • Make sure your Chromebook is fully up to date. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Check for updates.

Reinstall Google Play Store:

  • Sometimes, the Play Store app might get disabled or uninstalled. To reinstall it, you might need to reset your Chromebook:
    • Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset settings.
    • Click Powerwash and follow the instructions to reset your Chromebook.

Check Compatibility:

  • Confirm that your Chromebook model supports Google Play Store. You can check this on the Google Play support page for Chromebooks.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Try performing a hard reset. Turn off your Chromebook, then press and hold the Refresh key and tap the Power button. Release the Refresh key when the Chromebook starts.

Re-add Your Google Account:

  • Remove your Google account from the Chromebook and add it back:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts.
    • Click on your account and select Remove.
    • Restart your Chromebook and add your account again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
