Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing to report a serious performance issue with my HP Victus 15-fa2700TX, purchased from Flipkart.

System details:

  • Model: HP Victus 15-fa2700TX
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 (13th Gen)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050
  • Advertised GPU TGP: 50W
  • OS: Windows 11 (updated)
  • BIOS: Updated to latest version
  • OMEN Gaming Hub: Latest version :

During gaming and GPU stress tests, my RTX 3050 never exceeds ~30W TGP, even under full load.
This has been verified using   NVIDIA monitoring tools.

As per HP specifications and product information, the RTX 3050 in this model is rated at 50W TGP, however the system appears to be power-limited to 30W, resulting in significant performance loss.

Steps already verified:

  • Laptop plugged in with original HP adapter
  • Windows power mode set to Best performance
  • NVIDIA Control Panel set to Prefer maximum performance
  • Thermal temperatures are within safe limits (no thermal throttling)
  • No performance mode available in OMEN Gaming Hub

I request HP to please:

  1. Confirm whether the RTX 3050 TGP is intentionally limited to 30W on Victus 15-fa2700TX
  2. Explain why the advertised 50W TGP is not achievable.

This directly impacts gaming performance and was not clearly disclosed at the time of purchase.

I look forward to your technical clarification and resolution.

@Meraki_2007,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I'm afraid that what you described is normal behavior for the HP Victus 15-fa2700TX.

Although HP lists the RTX 3050 as, quote: "up to 50 W TGP", the GPU's sustained power is ~30-watt. The additional wattage comes only from Nvidia Dynamic Boost, which activates briefly and conditionally when CPU power usage is low, and the firmware allows it. In real-world gaming, Dynamic Boost usually does not engage on Victus models, so the GPU remains around 30-watt.

There is no BIOS or OMEN Gaming Hub option on Victus systems to raise GPU power, and this limit is enforced by HP firmware (EC/BIOS) by design -not by drivers, thermals, or a system fault.

So, in short:

• The GPU is working as intended.
• ~30-watt sustained TGP is expected for this model.
• The advertised 50-watt represents a theoretical peak, not sustained operation.

HP Support will not be able to unlock higher GPU power on this system.

Kind Regards,

I think HP should replace my unit because others unit aren't facing any TGP issue

@Meraki_2007,

This HP Community site is staffed by unpaid volunteers like me, and all I can do is recommending that you present your case/argument with HP Support India.

Since you purchased your laptop via a third party (Flipcart), HP is not directly a party in this issue -meaning, you'll have to convince whoever you purchased your HP Victus from to see if they would allow you to return your product and reimburse you.
