(Question asked by translator) Hello, I bought a Victus 15 a while ago with the following specifications: i5-12450H, RTX 3050, 32GB RAM. I mostly use it for studying and occasionally playing games. Since I hardly ever play games on it, I thought the FPS I was getting was normal. I'd never had a powerful computer before. It turns out that I don't think the GPU is being used or detected, and I don't know what to think anymore. I've been trying to fix this for months. I've set the battery to maximum performance, made sure the RTX 3050 is recognized in the Nvidia control panel, and I always update the drivers. I even go to the HP website, and it says everything is up to date. I don't know what else to do to increase the FPS or improve performance. I always keep it plugged in. In Valorant, with everything maxed out, it doesn't even go above 144 FPS, which is the screen's maximum. It stays at 100 FPS and drops, and it's not consistent. Fortnite is impossible to play decently; the menu shows 120 FPS. But when I start a match and am on the map, I get 50 fps. I can only play on performance settings, and it doesn't even go above 144 fps. I didn't pay attention to it because I play on PlayStation, but it seems unfair to have this laptop and not have it run games as it should. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Hi @Rhonny2002,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.
To help pinpoint the issue, could you provide a few more details?
1. Are you certain that your games are using the dedicated RTX 3050 GPU and not the integrated Intel GPU?
2. Which games are you testing besides Valorant and Fortnite, and what FPS are you seeing there?
3. Do you notice any thermal throttling does the laptop get very hot while gaming?
4. Are you using any external monitors or just the built-in laptop display?
5. Are you running Windows on the latest version with all updates installed?
In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps that often help improve GPU utilization and gaming performance on laptops like yours:
- Force games to use the dedicated GPU
- In Nvidia Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Set preferred GPU to RTX 3050 globally or per game.
- Disable integrated GPU in Device Manager (careful with this, only if comfortable).
- Check Windows power plan
- Ensure “High Performance” is selected, and that battery settings don’t limit GPU usage even while plugged in.
- Update or rollback Nvidia drivers
- Sometimes the latest driver isn’t the most stable; testing a previous WHQL version can help.
- Check for thermal throttling
- Adjust in-game settings
- Even on “max,” some games may be bottlenecked by CPU or display refresh rates. Test with mid-level settings.
- Ensure the laptop isn’t in Hybrid or Optimus mode
- Some HP laptops default to hybrid graphics, which can reduce FPS if games aren’t detecting the discrete GPU.
Once you share the additional details, I can guide you through more precise steps to ensure your RTX 3050 is being fully utilized and help maximize FPS in your games.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!

(Response generated with a translator) Hi! Look, I've already done all that before and nothing. I have another monitor connected, but I disconnect it to play and I still get the same FPS. I don't know what's going on. I'm sending you the FPS reading on the side. Everything is updated, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and nothing changed. In Windows 11 graphics settings, I also set the Nvidia graphics to maximum performance and nothing changed. I don't think it's a bottleneck, but it all seems illogical to me that it's not using the graphics card that much or that it's running so badly. On YouTube, with the same components, they say it runs at over 200 FPS. I don't know what's happening.
