Hi,
Where are the HP Dual Sound settings, I wish to turn it off?
I was just playing around on Windows when somehow I had a pop-up on my screen asking if I wish to use "HP Dual Sound." I foolishly thought this sounded good and selected the option to do so.
This has meant sound does not always come through the headphones or the in-built laptop speakers.
For example, if I am listening to Itunes and wish to put some headphones on the sound cuts out. If I close down Itunes and restart it while the headphones are plugged in - Itunes will play the music through the headphones. This also happens with games.
I would like to get back to how it was before, whereby if I plugged headphones in the sound would automatically switch over and visa versa.
I have played around with Sound Settings but cannot seem to get it back to how it was.
Can someone help with this?

@Couchie, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
The HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0192tx features B&O PLAY dual speakers with HP Audio Boost. Typically, sound settings, including speaker configurations, can be accessed through the following steps:
Open Sound Settings: Right-click on the speaker icon located in the system tray at the bottom-right corner of your screen and select "Open Sound settings."
Manage Sound Devices: In the Sound settings window, navigate to the "Manage sound devices" section. Here you can configure the output devices, including the speakers.
Device Properties: Select the "Speakers" or the specific audio device related to B&O PLAY. You may find options related to enhancements or advanced settings in this section.
Disable Enhancements: If you wish to turn off any advanced audio features or enhancements, choose "Device properties" and explore the available options to turn them off.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Garp.
Thanks for your reply. It seemed that the problem had rectified itself so I was seeing how it was going for a bit before replying. However, I am now with ongoing problems related to sound.
The majority of the problems only occurred after I foolishly accepted a pop-up from HP to use dual sound options. I cannot find that option to turn it off. I assume form what you have said, the options are under the normal Windows settings are the only way to access any sound options? I cannot do so under HP Assistant etc?
I had tried everything under Windows Sound settings before and since you reply.
Just now, I cannot get any sound from the headphones.
From the screenshot below you can see two audio output option. I think but maybe wrong there was only one option before I accepted the 'dual audio' function from HP.
Any more advice is appreciated.

Thanks for sharing that screenshot — I see what’s happening.
Garp_senchau is away for now; however, I'm Hawks_Eye, and I'll be happy to help you out!
Your HP laptop is showing two Realtek audio output devices:
Speaker/Headphone (Realtek High Definition Audio) → the “normal” device you should be using.
Realtek HD Audio 2nd output → created when HP/Realtek “Dual Audio” or “Multi-streaming playback” is enabled.
That second option is what’s causing the confusion (and likely why your headphones aren’t working).
How to Fix It (Disable Dual Audio)
Open Realtek Audio Console / HD Audio Manager
Press Win + S, type Realtek Audio Console (or Realtek HD Audio Manager if you have the older version).
If you don’t see it, reinstall the latest driver from HP’s support page for your model.
Look for "Device advanced settings" or "Multi-streaming" option
In most HP systems it’s under the Connector Settings (gear icon).
You’ll see something like:
Enable Multi-streaming playback (this is the “dual audio” you accidentally turned on).
Turn it OFF.
Once off, you should only see one audio output device in Windows Sound settings.
Headphones will then auto-switch when plugged in.
If You Can’t Find Realtek Console
Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.
Right-click and disable "Realtek HD Audio 2nd output".
Make sure Speaker/Headphone is set as Default Device.
Headphone Issue
If disabling the second output doesn’t fix headphones:
Make sure you’re plugging into the correct combo audio jack.
Try updating the Realtek driver from HP’s official support site (not just Windows Update).
Run the Troubleshoot button you see in your screenshot to auto-detect jack problems.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
