HP OMEN 17 Backlight issue

This has been ticking me off for the past few weeks.

The new HP OMEN 17 gaming laptop's pros far outweigh the cons, however, the backlight is one of the more noticible cons.

I am very pleased with my device. It has run pretty much all my games at a stunning 60 fps, and i have to say it was worth my money.

However, the one very annoying thing about the laptop is the red backlight. It does blend very well with the product's carbon fiber design, but its not so great for late-night gaming sessions. I often get irritated with it because I cannot look straight at it, and turning it off only makes it more difficult to see my keys.

It does not seem that there is any way to change the backlight. I have downloaded the HP Control Software, the one that works for the OMEN 15 Notebook, but it does not change anything. The program does not work.

The backlight is very hard on my eyes at night, it can get difficult to look at, and it can get irritating.

If there is any way to change the backlight please let me know, thank you.

Hello Vlzxc,

If you are referring to the keyboard lighting,  unfortunately it's color cannot be changed. You can however turn it off. I believe it's the F5 key. Fn plus F5 if not.

ah **bleep**, i was really hoping i could change the backlight in some way, can i at least dim it down?

Im afraid its either on or off. At least mine is and i dont know of any others that change except for the old series.

I wish it changed colors too.
