HP Omen 15 ce018dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased this HP Omen 15 in November and soon realized that it was not powerful enough to run games requiring more then 8gb of RAM. Also, it takes forever to load games in so I'm looking to add a M.2 SSD. I opened up the back and found an extra slot for a RAM stick, so I would like to install another 8gb RAM stick. I also discovered a M.2 slot for a SSD. My problem is I dont know much about laptops, so I'm asking for your help. There are hundreds of different types of RAM to purchase from and several different types of M.2 SSD's to purchase from, so can someone possibly narrow it down to exactly what type of RAM and M.2 SSD would be compatible for my Omen?

Hello @TreeSap

When upgrading or adding to existing memory, you want to match the timings of what is already there first.

To see what those are, download a tool like Speccy and look them up.

https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy

It should look something similar to this...

Look at the timings highlighted and let me know what they are.

I can look up something that will be less costly than the ram sold by HP directly.

There are hundreds of different types of RAM to purchase from  Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory for your laptop.  If Crucial recommends it, it is guaranteed to work.  You can install CPU-Z.  In the tabs "Memory" and "SPD" you will find all of the information about the memory in your laptop; including the manufacturer.

and several different types of M.2 SSD's to purchase from,  They have a list of compatible SSD's in the page, also.  They are not M.2, however.  I can't find any information on the version of M.2 that can be installed.  Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop.  It shows the size of SSD's, but not the versions.

so can someone possibly narrow it down to exactly what type of RAM and M.2 SSD would be compatible for my Omen?
