Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today, I've been setting up my external montitor with my HP Omen 15-dc0118tx in order for me to be able to use 2 monitors. When I first plugged it in, I tried to change the refresh rate on my external monitor to 144Hz, but it only came up with an option for 60Hz. I thought it had something to do with the monitor driver or graphics card driver being outdated, but I've tried both of those and I'm still stuck on 60Hz.
I feel like it the problem could be caused by my laptop capping the refresh rate in order to not be out-of-sync, but I've tried disabling my laptop monitor and I'm still unable to use a refresh rate higher than 60Hz.

The monitor I'm using is an Asus VG248qe and it's connected through a DVI-HDMI adapter, which an HDMI cable being connected to my HP Omen laptop.

Hello @nick_vdz

Most likely its the fact that you're using the HDMI to DVI adapter. That ASUS wants DVI or Displayport only for 144Hz.

You will have better luck going straight from Displayport to Displayport. The Omen uses mini displayport which will be the same as regular displayport except for the size of port.
