OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf0000 (755F7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I bought this laptop 2-3 months ago and after a month of gaming, I noticed that my CPU was overheating, so I sent the laptop back where I bought it, for troubleshooting. A month ago I got it back, with replaced motherboard, stating, that its fixed now. Yesterday I noticed that my fans are nonstop running on max speed while playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, so I checked temps and its overheating again. I honestly do not know what to do anymore.

So the new Bios update (F.26), seems to do it, atleast partially, I still have to limit my CPU clockspeed in Windows Power settings to stay under 90 degrees celsius, but the fact, that you can achieve this only by editing registry, is tedious.

I hope that this is all and I won't expirience this problem in a near future, it honestly gave me a headache.

Here are the specifications for your laptop and you have one of the generation 13 Intel processors.

The 13 and 14 intel processors have a known problem with overheating and there is no telling when a BIOS

update to fix the problem will be released to HP from Intel and not telling when HP can put the BIOS change into your laptop.

For now, keep the processors out of the turbo mode and consider getting a laptop cooler.

Enter the phrase edit power plan in the window search box
Then select the Advanced tab

To keep the CPU from overheating , consider
using %99 instead of %100.
if this is a gaming system then the game hub may override this power setting, so make the change in the game hub also.

Verify CPU speed using this tool (CPU-Z) to see if it stays out of turbo.

You might be able to check for GPU/CPU temperature problems using this tool (GPU-Z) and selecting 'sensors' but the game hub display looks better.

Hello, thank you for your reply, didn’t expect to hear back that quick.

Just to make sure, you are basically saying, that this is a known issue for a long time, but there is still not a fix and HP simply doesn’t care? And in order to not fry my laptop I have to accept that my games will be lagging, because i can’t use my laptop properly.

HP cared enough to replace the motherboard.

I was just guessing that the problem is the CPU.

Have you upgraded the bios?

There are two BIOS releases for different processors dated Nov 8, 2024. and both are version F.24

See if the HP support assistant recommends upgrading the BIOS.  I just suggested keeping the laptop out of turbo mode as a quick fix.  If the laptop dies after the warranty then it is not any good to anyone.  This problem was caused by Intel and affects other OEMs, not just HP.  Intel found out about the problem last year.  That does not mean they got the solution out that day.
