Laptop screen will at times turn on (i.e. it is lit), but with no display. This has been occurring for some months now, my laptop is just over 4 years old. This most often happens on startup, but sometimes also after it has been shut and gone into sleep mode and re-opened. At rare times it will be totally black and unlit also. On some occasions it'll startup, display the OMEN logo, and then go blank when the login screen would otherwise appear (and I can see it has got to that point as the webcam turns on to try to sign in). Typically force shutting down and then starting up again will resolve this, however I'd obviously like to completely resolve this.
Previous troubleshooting steps:
- Ensured graphics driver etc is up to date
- Uninstalled display driver (from the device manager)

Hi@inazumarina,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing issues with the OMEN By HP Laptop randomly turns on but does not display.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep and click the Additional Power Settings link on the right-hand side of the window. From there, click Choose What the Power Buttons Do, and you should see a un checkbox next to Turn on Fast Startup in the list of options.
Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if the screen is blank in Bios. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.
If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the screen.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
