Hi,

I bought this HP Omen Notebook in mid 2017 in India. I would like to know if there is some software like HP Command Center or something which will allow me to change my fan speeds manually? Many Omen devices seem to have some software like this, and yet I can't find it in my laptop. Does it have to be downloaded manually? Or is it not available for the laptop? If so, is there some other software that I can use?

Thanks.

Hi,

The Omen Command functions/features will vary based on PC model. I didn't see any mention of the Omen Control Center for your particular model PC.  That information would normally be mentioned under the HP software software and drivers.

Did you try the update function on the main screen?

You will need the HP Support Assistant to use the Omen Command Center. If HPSA is installed then run it and see if you pickup any updates for your PC.

I didn't see this Omen Control Center link posted under your particular PC model.  It might help.

BTW----Speedfan has a buggy history.:smileysad:

@kulboi

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to change the fan speed on your PC using an HP Omen controller,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Was this a sealed box or was it tampered with?

Did you remove or change the OS sent along with the PC?

If the program didn't come with your PC, I'm afraid it cannot be installed, however, if it did, you remember removing it as such?

That said, you can reinstall the Omen controller using the below links:

System Event Utility:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71716.exe

Omen Control:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70894.exe

However, if they don't work, it means that your PC doesn't support the software, that said, if you wish to learn about the software and the fan settings:

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the HP Omen Controller app seems to have no effect :Crying:

I just bought this laptop last month, and haven't tampered or changed any settings.

Actually I was using Speedfan and saw that the highest temp during gaming was around 80 C (AC Syndicate). So I thought that it would be nice if i could bump both the fans to max, seeing as the second fan always runs around 150 rpm during stress loads. Is that normal?

Well, seems like Omen controller doesn't work for this laptop.

EDIT: The Omen Controller seems to be specifically for HP Omen 15 5000 notebook. Why isn't there a version for the newer models?

Yeah. Probably my model doesn't have Omen Control Center.:smileysad:

Thanks anyways.

Also, what do you recommend as a substitute for Speedfan?

I don't use software to control the five (5) PWM fans in my custom PC.  The built in BIOS fan curves do the job quite nicely.

Need to open the HP Support Assistant to use the Omen Command Center. If HPSA is installed then run it and sure you might be able to get the Omen Command Ceneter.
