HP OMEN Notebook - 15-5001la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently performed a system reset on my HP OMEN Laptop running Windows 10. Most of the HP software was deleted so I downloaded it from the HP page along with a few drivers, however I can't seem to find HP OMEN Control, or the Central Ops programs, which means that the keyboard backlighting on my system has been locked to red. Where can I find or activate this software?

Yeah I've seen this before. 🙂

There is the HP System Even Utility which should get ya back up and illuminated in the right colour once the Omen Control is installed. 🙂

The link is right here for the System Event Utill:

Omen Control:

Good luck!

Hi @luiseortiz ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP OMEN 15-5001la Notebook and trying to install the Omen Control Software. You could try an HP Recovery as it does have an option for Software Program Reinstallation.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hey iMaxx, thanks so much for this post! I almost didn't find it with the countless threads about this issue, with almost none of them having concrete solutions.

The System Event Utility in combo with the Omen Control you linked are working. allowing me to control LED lighting as well as fan speed (though I still find my omen running somewhat hot after Win 10).

My question for you is, do you have a link to a working HP Omen Control Center? I loved having that one button to reach so many of the best features of this laptop. I'm really so surprised at the lack of support HP has had for this transition to Windows 10. I love the operating system, but HP just was not prepared.

Thanks again, I appreciate your time!

I have tried installing the packages listed.  No changes occur.   I purchased an Omen in late November that came loaded with win8.1,  upgraded to win10.  Used Indian tech "support" to "upgrade" BIOS to F.32.    I am able to effect control when logged on as administrator,  but completely unable to turn off the speaker backlighting when logged on as regular user. It is impossible.   One writer offered the workaround of choosing black as the color.   Black doesn't appear on the color wheel inside of Omen Control,   and moving the brightness slider within Omen control does absolutely nothing.

It bothers me that some of these posts were written back in August of 2015.  One reply from HP was "we are aware of and are working on the problem".   Well,  that was a half year ago!

HP, come up with a solution, please.   I would like to turn off the speaker backlighting.  I would happily accept turning this off permanently.   I did not purchase this (otherwise wonderful) laptop for gaming,  but simply for its speed and build quality (fantastic).
