OMEN by HP - 15-dc0043np
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this gaming laptop a week ago and since then everytime I play any game it starts to overheat like I played cs go and got to 95 degrees Celsius when I went to the store the tech guy started to overclock my laptop to see where the temperatures where at 100% cpu and it was about 80-90 degrees celcius and he said it was normal and I shouldn't worry about it but I do I was thinking of just getting refunded and buying a new laptop. Here is a screenshot of me playing cs go sorry if it's not in english but as you can see it says the cpu is at 95 degrees celsius and somehow only using 10% of the cpu please help me.Sem Título.png

Hello @Rock35

Yes, some of those Omen systems run really hot. I don't like the idea of it running 95c either.

Before you take it back, try fully updating it via Windows Updates. Manually check for updates, even if it says its up to date.

Make sure your bios is up to date... should be version F.08. You can find the version in the HP Support Assistant. Here is the download if you need it... sp95163.exe

Then test it again. IF it is still in the mid 90s, your only option is to undervolt the cpu which disables turbo boost basically.

You can either go to the advances power settings and turn down the maximum processor state to 99% (might have to go a little lower depending). Or you can run a utility like Throttlestop (preferred method among enthusiasts).

This will cut performance down a little because of turbo boost being turned off.

Otherwise, if you don't like the idea of having to do such a work around, you will probably do well to get a refund/exchange.

I did the updates and I have the bios updated but I'm not gonna decrease my performance so my laptop doesn't overheat I mean i payed for it so I would expect it to not have these type of problem.

I bought this laptop so I can play on it with it's full cpu not with it decreased I would just say this laptop is pure trash I really don't know the problem that it has but if I payed for it I'm expecting a fully functionall laptop not this waste of money garbage that should not even be for sale might as well just sell broke computers it's way better because now people know that they have problems and errors.
