So I recently bought an Omen 15 am kind of aware of the heating and fan noise don’t bother me, but what I was wondering is the command centres performance control, Does SWITCHING between different modes cause any damage to the device I mean is it like over clocking or it’s just same as switching between performance and power saver modes through windows control panel? Since we can’t do it through control panel on this device.

I have asked HP for clarification and am waiting for word back.
I assume you have one of the Omen 15 dc0xxx series laptops.
I know the performance mode doesnt overclock because that series does not have unlocked cpu's that allow for overclocking.
Its more likely undervolting presets. In other words, presets that provide less energy to the cpu resulting in less heat output.
Similar to the difference of gaming while plugged in to the powercord versus gaming on battery only.
Those laptops are known to have high heat issues. If you notice your temperatures reaching high limits, you can lessen the issue with performance mode. You may or may not also limit some FPS in game play, but I don't have one of those laptops to actually test the experience.
It will not damage the laptop to do this.
