HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

I've seen this problem occur for a few other users of HP Omen laptops.  The AC adapter is plugged in but not charging. I have gone into the device manager, uninstalled the 2nd item under the dropdown from Battery, and then shut the computer down, unplugged the adapter, turned it back on and plugged in the adapter.  Previously this would allow my laptop to charge up to 75% sometimes 76% or almost 80%.  Then it would slowly drain back down. and I would still need to leave the laptop plugged in.  Yesterday I was gaming on it so I think I used up a whole lot of battery.  It got down so low that I can't play the game because there were frame rate drops due to the battery and laptop kicking into power saving mode (low performance mode).  I tried doing the uninstall and rebooting again but this time it doesn't seem to have worked.  The battery charge isn't increasing at least for now.  But it's still frustrating that I have to leave my laptop plugged in at all times anyway. I've done an HP battery check and it said the battery itself is fine.  So I don't think it's a hardware issue I think it's a software issue.  Also the battery is not removable.  I'm using a 150W AC adapter.  What do I do?  Do I send in my HP laptop for a software repair?  Or do they only do hardware repairs, which would be a waste of time if my battery check is indicating that the battery is fine.  Help.  I need this laptop to be working for when I return to college in the fall.

Hello @BloodPhoenix

It helps to always post the full model or product number of your pc when asking for help.

Battery or other hardware checks are not 100% full proof. I have seen batteries show not failing in the diagnostics, yet they had to be replaced.

IF you are doing Diagnostics, the UEFI version from F2 at startup works a little better than running from in Windows.

HP doesnt necessarily do software warranty repairs, its more like they reinstall Windows by running a factory reset.

You can do that yourself and save time. But if that does not solve the issue, you need to send it in for hardware repairs (battery/adapter replacement).
