HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0751ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is there a motherboard upgrade for this laptop. I see a bunch of boards that look the same and found I sit that said it will fit but want to make sure before spending 400 dollars on something that won't fit.

@Kaleb3,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-Ec0751ms (7QS78UA) according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06459239, was fitted with a system board that contained an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics (2.10 GHz base clock, up to 3.70 GHz max boost clock) -please verify.

According to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06446633.pdf, an upgradeable system board fitted with an AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor (2.30 GHz base clock, up to 4.00 GHz max boost clock) and 6 GB of discrete graphics memory (GeForce GTX 1660 Ti) with HP p/n: L71932-601 is in fact compatible with your laptop -and a very nice upgrade indeed.

And as you said, they sell for around $400, as seen here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=HP+L71932-601&_sacat=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=15.

There are three caveats which I need to bring up though: firstly, you may encounter software issues, specifically related to drivers.  These issues are usually fixable, though.  Secondly, a system (mother) board swap/upgrade like this is not considered a 'straight replacement', meaning that Microsoft may not play fair and force you to buy a new Windows license. Thirdly, if your plan was to buy the L71932-601 through eBay, purchase it from a reputable Seller who allows returns -in case things don't work out.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Kaleb3,

Please be advised that if you were to purchase HP p/n: L71932-601 or L71931-601 (system boards with GeForce GTX 1660 Ti), or HP p/n: L719930-601 (system board with GeForce GTX 1650) you will need to upgrade the heatsink too:
