My

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0041nr

for some reason stopped coming on after I shut it off as it needed to charge. I've tried everything from holding the power button, disconnecting the battery and even replacing it! The only thing I've noticed is that it receives charge and the battery gets hot but it refuses to come on. I've even checked to see if the problem was just my brightness being down but it wasn't. I really need help as this laptop seems that it can be saved.

Hi @Rotiana,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating when a laptop won't turn on, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0041nr

  1. Check Power Adapter and Connection:
    • Ensure that the power adapter is working properly. Test it with another device if possible.
    • Check the power cable for any damage and make sure it's securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset:
    • Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
    • Remove the battery (if possible).
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
    • Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
    • Try turning on the laptop.
  3. External Display Test:
    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the appropriate cables.
    • Power on the external display.
    • Turn on the laptop.
    • If you see the display on the external monitor but not on the laptop screen, it could be a display-related issue.
  4. Check for Indicator Lights:
    • Look for any indicator lights (e.g., power LED) on the laptop when attempting to turn it on. These lights can provide clues about the issue.
  5. Reseat RAM and Storage Drive:
    • If you're comfortable doing so, open the laptop and reseat the RAM modules and the storage drive (if applicable). Ensure they are properly connected.
  6. BIOS/UEFI Reset:
    • Check if your laptop has a CMOS/BIOS reset button

please this helps! Keep me posted.
