Hey there beautiful community.
Background: I recently bought a Hp victus 15 as a college student and a mobile app developer. I have been doing all of my tasks on it. And I am enjoying working on it.
My issue: When I plug my laptop to my AC adapter for a charge. It will charge normally fine for 20-30 mins. Then eventually it will stop charging even though my adapter is still connected and attached with the laptop. As soon I remove the adapter and put it back. It instantly start charging again.
I also have a HP pavillion laptop back from 2015, it does not create any problem like I mentioned above. Kindly help me with this issue.

Hi @sadaqat123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Victus 15 is experiencing intermittent charging issues, which can be frustrating. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to help identify and potentially resolve the problem.
Check the AC Adapter and Power Outlet:
- Inspect the AC adapter: Make sure the AC adapter is not damaged and is properly connected to the power outlet.
- Try a different outlet: Sometimes, the issue could be with the power outlet itself. Try plugging the adapter into a different outlet.
- Check the adapter: If possible, use the AC adapter from your HP Pavilion laptop to see if the issue persists with a different charger.
Examine the Charging Port:
- Inspect the port: Ensure the charging port on your laptop is clean and free of debris. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow out any dust.
- Check for damage: Look for any signs of physical damage to the charging port.
Battery and Power Settings:
- Run Battery Diagnostic: HP has a built-in diagnostic tool. Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F2 key to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI menu. Select "Component Tests" and then "Power."
- Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Click on Additional power settings.
- Choose Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- In the power options window, expand Battery and set the Critical battery level and Low battery level to a lower percentage (e.g., 5% and 10%).
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Update BIOS: Go to the HP Support website and check if there is a BIOS update available for your model. Follow the instructions to download and install it.
- Update Battery Drivers:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Batteries section.
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Update driver.

Battery Calibration:
- Fully charge your laptop while it is turned off.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and turn on the laptop.
- Use the laptop until the battery is completely drained and it shuts down.
- Recharge the laptop to 100% without interruption.
Check for HP Battery Health Manager:
- HP laptops sometimes come with a battery health management feature that may alter charging behavior to prolong battery life. Check your BIOS settings for a "Battery Health Manager" option and ensure it is set to "Maximize My Battery Health" or similar.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
