Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (771S6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everyone, I have one of the models of HP VICTUS which has i7 13700h and RTX 4050. I have a very strange problem. My gpu doesn't heat which results with low fps in some game especially such as CS2. When I try to play the game, I have constant fps drops likef rom 200 to 50 in a second. When I observe statistics through NVIDIA App, I see that the voltage GPU uses drops like 20 unit. Voltage usage is another problem for me because normally, my gpu uses 75w but It has never reached it and it only reaches 30 W.

I can't play cs but when I try to play Forza Horizon 6, I can play it in high settings with 60-70 fps which is quite normal. What can I do to boost my pc, at least I want my gpu to heat a bit.

Hi @enesozkan61

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the low gaming performance concern on your Victus 15. Based on the details shared, the system can run a demanding title like Forza at expected performance, but CS2 is showing large FPS drops and the RTX 4050 is only drawing around 30W instead of reaching its higher power range. This suggests the GPU may not be consistently receiving the workload or power profile needed during gameplay.

Please try the following steps:

Confirm the notebook is connected to the original HP AC adapter while gaming.

  • Gaming performance can be reduced when running on battery or with an incompatible adapter.

Open OMEN Gaming Hub and set:

  • Performance Control: Performance mode
  • Graphics Switcher (if available): Discrete GPU mode
  • Restart the PC after applying the change.

Update the BIOS and HP system drivers using HP Support Assistant.

  • Install all recommended BIOS, chipset, and graphics-related updates.
  • Restart after updates complete.

In Windows:

  • Settings > System > Power & Battery
  • Set Power Mode to Best Performance.

Verify CS2 is using the RTX 4050:

  • Settings > System > Display > Graphics
  • Add CS2 and set it to High Performance.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Perform the System Test and Graphics Test.
  • Check if any failures are reported.

Monitor GPU utilization while CS2 is running.

  • If GPU usage remains very low while FPS drops occur, the game may not be fully utilizing the RTX 4050 despite being selected.

A GPU does not need to become very hot to perform well. The more important indicators are GPU utilization, clock speeds, and power draw. Since Forza performs normally, the hardware itself appears capable of delivering expected gaming performance.

Could you also share:

  • Current BIOS version
  • Whether OMEN Gaming Hub is set to Hybrid or Discrete Graphics mode
  • GPU utilization (%) and temperature while CS2 is running during the FPS drops

That information will help narrow down whether this is a graphics switching, power management, or game-specific performance issue.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
