Good day!

I have a brand-new HP Victus 16 laptop. On its 6th day of use, a thin yellow vertical line appeared on its LCD.

Also, I noticed that its charger adapter is overheating.

Hope you could help me on this matters.

Thank you, all!

Hi @Den1s2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing two separate issues with your HP Victus 16 laptop: a yellow vertical line on the LCD and an overheating charger adapter. Here's how you can address both problems:

1. Thin Yellow Vertical Line on LCD

1.1. Check for Software Issues

  • Restart Laptop: Sometimes, graphical glitches can be temporary. Restart your laptop to see if the line disappears.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Go to Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager), expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select Update driver.

1.2. Check for Hardware Issues

  • Check Cable Connections: If possible, check the internal connections of the display. Loose or damaged cables can cause display issues.
  • External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the line does not appear on the external monitor, the issue is likely with the laptop's LCD or internal connections.
  • Run Diagnostics: Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tools to check for display issues:
    • Restart the laptop and press Esc or F2 during boot to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the Component Test and Display Test.

2. Overheating Charger Adapter

2.1. Check Adapter and Power Source

  • Inspect Charger: Ensure that the charger is the correct one for your laptop model. Using an incompatible charger can cause overheating.
  • Check Power Source: Plug the charger into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.

2.2. Assess Usage

  • Avoid Overuse: If you’re using the laptop heavily while charging, it can cause the adapter to overheat. Try using the laptop with minimal applications running to see if the overheating persists.

2.3. Check for Adapter Damage

  • Inspect Charger: Look for any visible signs of damage on the charger, such as fraying cables or discoloration.
  • Replace Charger: If the charger is damaged or continues to overheat, consider replacing it with a new, genuine HP charger.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
