Hello, I am installing RAM on my HP Victus 15-fa1040nr Gaming Laptop. I ran a check through CMD to see my max ram capacity and it comes down to 32gb. I have purchased Corsair Vengeance SoDIMM 16x2 Gb ram sticks. I have installed them both and my caps light flashes indicating an error, I began troubleshooting my issue and I have came to a dead end. I have tried both ram sticks in both ram slots. Both ram new sticks work in one slot and not the other. Both of the OLD ram stick both work in both ram slots. With that being said I know both ram slots are working as should be and the new ram sticks are not defective. I updated mt BIOS. still no fix. So what I'm to curious is, does one of the ram slots hold a 32gb ram stick? I know normally they are split between two but that's not always the case. I am at a dead end as of right now. I don't want to have to buy another ram stick and return these just to see if it works if I don't have too.  Thanks in advance, any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hi:

What are the timing specs for the Corsair Vengeance memory you bought?

The DDR4-3200 memory should have a CL22 timing spec.

If you installed memory with a faster timing spec, then most likely that is the problem.

If that is the timing of the memory you bought, then perhaps the max memory spec is 2 x 8 GB as indicated in the specifications for the model series:

They are CL22

Then your notebook probably cannot support more 2 x 8GB of memory.

Even though in the CMD it shows max ram capacity at 32gb? He is current running 20gb

You didn't indicate that 20 GB of memory was installed.

You can try another brand memory such as Crucial:

Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

That would be the only other suggestion I can offer.

My apologies, Look back about I do see I forgot to mention that it's not been mentioned. I may try that.  I might try a 32g card in one slot to see if that might be a possibility too. Thank you for your help, have a blessed rest of your week!
