HP Victus 15

Hi, 

I noticed that my webcam isn't working anymore and hasn't been for a while. It could have been after I updated drivers, etc. I can't exactly recall when I started having this issue. I am trying to resolve it and it looks like other people have been experiencing the same but I haven't come across a solution.

I have done some trouble shooting and I can't even find the device in the device manager. My system specs are:

Hi,

Since the webcam is not showing in Device Manager at all, I would first confirm whether Windows can still detect the camera hardware.

Please try these steps:

1. Check for a physical camera privacy shutter or camera privacy key on the keyboard. On some HP laptops, the camera can be disabled by a shutter/key and then Windows may report that no camera is available.

1. Open Device Manager, then select:
   View > Show hidden devices

Check under:

• Cameras
• Imaging devices
• Universal Serial Bus controllers
• Unknown devices

If you see the camera greyed out, uninstall it and restart.

1. In Device Manager, click:
   Action > Scan for hardware changes
2. Check Windows camera permissions:
   Settings > Privacy & security > Camera
   Make sure camera access is enabled.

1. Update BIOS, chipset, and camera-related drivers from HP Support using the exact product number, not only “Victus.”
   Press Fn + Esc to find the product number, then search here:

2. Perform a power reset:
• Shut down the laptop.
• Disconnect the charger and all external devices.
• Hold the power button for about 15–20 seconds.
• Reconnect the charger and start the laptop.

1. If the camera still does not appear anywhere in Device Manager, even after BIOS/chipset updates and power reset, then the issue may be hardware-related, such as a disconnected webcam cable, failed camera module, or display cable issue.

In short, if the camera is missing completely from Device Manager, this is more than a normal app permission issue. Please share the exact Victus product number and whether any unknown USB/imaging device appears in Device Manager.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

What I've done so far:
1. My model of laptop does not have a physical shutter or key to disable the webcam on the keyboard.
2. In device manager, the webcam is not appearing in the categories for camera/imaging devices/USBs. I've gone through them all and already tried enabling show hidden devices option. However, I have found out that it can show up as "ACPI x64-based PC" under Computer category, which is the case for me.
3. I've tried scanning for hardware changes but there's no change.
4. Checked windows settings camera permissions. The access is enabled and access is on for all apps. 

5. Tried to locate the camera-related drivers as per exact product number on the HP site, but it does not show anything for the webcam. Please help!
