Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U8AV)

Hi, I'm gonna write yet another thread on this problem.

My Victus 16 has the infamous problem with the CMOS error, which randomly bootloops the laptop.

Sometimes it will start, sometimes it will not. It's a Russian Roulette.

My Victus, on the 17 of April went under warranty to HP Hungary, where it returned back the 2 of May with brand new motherboard and battery aswell.

It worked with no problems only for two days, then it started back with the Error 502.

I promptly contected HP again, and they don't know what to do. All they said was to disable secure boot, fast boot and update the BIOS to version F.25, but nothing changed.

A lot of people  have this problem with the CMOS error, but HP doesn't care at all.

Reading online, this showed up with the BIOS version F.21, so it's basically a firmware issue.

There's no way to downgrade the BIOS whatsoever.

We're stuck with a 1400/1500€ laptop that is practically a paperweight. This particular problem started on my Victus when it was out of warranty, so I had to buy 70€ of warranty package to have this fixed, but here I am, stuck again.

I will NEVER be able to get my money back to change laptop. All I got in my hands is basically TRASH. This is so infuriating.

I'm sorry for all the people with this issue.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH HP????? PLEASE WAKE UP AND DO SOMETHING!

Hi @Rieppi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I’m really sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you’ve been having with your HP Victus 16. It sounds incredibly annoying to deal with such persistent issues, especially after expecting that a repair under warranty would resolve the problem. Having your laptop flip between working and not working must be quite disruptive, especially considering the investment you've made into it.

It’s also disheartening to hear that the support suggestions haven’t made any difference, and I can completely understand why you’d feel let down by the lack of effective solutions from HP. It’s clear you rely on your laptop a lot, and having this kind of uncertainty with its functionality is far from ideal.

This indicates a hardware issue,Unfortunately, there are no further actions we can take through this channel. I recommend reaching out to our phone support for further assistance.

They can help you with the unit repair or part replacement.

I request you talk to HP Phone Support and they will help you to sort it out as it requires advance support or repair.

I already contacted HP today. For now there’s no solution, so I need to wait.

In the meantime I managed to downgrade the BIOS firmware, from F.24 to F.20

I will test it.

Hey, i've been having the same issue with the cmos checksum error, have you had any success in downgrading the bios to F.20? does the laptop work fine now?

Yes, I've successfully downgraded the BIOS to F.20 version. The laptop now is working fine.
