Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I am writing to formally report a critical hardware failure in my HP Victus 16-e0000 (2V8Z5AV) gaming laptop, which I believe is due to a well-documented manufacturing defect. As of 22/04/2025, the left hinge has completely shattered, with one of the structural screws having fallen out entirely, while the right hinge is now showing visible stress cracks and loosening. This damage occurred under normal usage conditions – the laptop has never been dropped or subjected to physical trauma.

This is not an isolated incident. A simple online search reveals hundreds of identical complaints from HP Victus owners worldwide, all describing the same hinge failure pattern. My device’s warranty expired on 26/06/2023, meaning this design flaw manifested just months after coverage ended – an unacceptable lifespan for a premium gaming device.

The evidence overwhelmingly suggests a systemic manufacturing defect:

  1. Identical failure points across multiple units

  2. No correlation with user handling (breaks under normal use)

  3. Concentrated reports specifically for Victus 16 hinge mechanisms

I’ve attached high-resolution photos clearly documenting:

  • The completely detached left hinge

  • The dislodged structural screw

  • Early stress fractures developing in the right hinge

Formal Request:
Given HP’s well-documented quality control issues with this model’s hinge assembly, I demand one of the following goodwill resolutions:

  • Full repair coverage acknowledging this manufacturing defect

  • Replacement of the entire display assembly at HP’s expense

  • Substantial discount on out-of-warranty repair reflecting HP’s responsibility

This demand is based on:
Consumer protection laws regarding manufacturing defects
HP’s own product durability promises for gaming laptops
Mounting evidence of identical failures industry-wide
