@TommyBoy222, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Victus 16 screen dying!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since the issue is showing up in BIOS too, it’s likely hardware-related rather than a driver or software problem. Here are a few steps we can try to narrow it down:

Hard Reset:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and any connected devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Power it back on and see if the screen behaves normally.

Check Display Cable/Connection:

  • If you’re comfortable, try gently adjusting the screen’s position. If the display flickers or responds, it could be a loose connection.

External Monitor Test:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor using HDMI or USB-C.
  • If the external monitor works fine, the issue might be with the laptop’s display panel.

BIOS Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it back on and immediately start tapping F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Once in BIOS, press F9 to load defaults, then F10 to save and exit.

🔎 A Few Questions to Dig Deeper:

  1. When the screen dies, does it go completely black, or do you notice any faint backlight or distorted graphics?
  2. If you gently press or tap around the screen edges, does anything change?
  3. Have you noticed any overheating or unusual fan noise before the screen goes out?

Let me know how it goes — we’ll figure this out together! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
