Is it normal that my new HP Victus 15 is drawing around 18-25% when in battery saving mode? Plus it's showing 62400 mWh of full charged capacity and the designed capacity is 70070mhW. This means the the current capacity is only at 89%. The laptop is new, it only has 15 cycles count.
It's not running anything heavy as you can see.
In the meantime I disabled a feature called "Adaptive Battery Optimizer" and performed a battery calibration test with test available when you press the F2 key (Component Tests>Memory>Extensive Test> Loop Until Error). I let the laptop discharge and the only after some hours I charged it again and waited for it to be full on capacity.
Sadly, I'm still getting a drainage of -17 to - 25W (and some times up to 50W) without performing any tasks. And this on battery saver mode. The full charged capacity went from 62400 mWh to 6525mWh.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi @lorips99,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your new HP Victus 15 gaming laptop is experiencing significant power drainage and the battery capacity seems to be lower than expected, there could be several potential issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
Check Power Settings:
- Make sure your laptop is set to the correct power plan. Go to the power settings and ensure that it is set to "Power Saver" mode.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all your device drivers, especially those related to power management and the battery, are up to date. You can check for updates on the HP support website.
BIOS Update:
- Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates that can improve system stability and power management.
Check for Background Processes:
- Use the Task Manager to check for any background processes or applications that might be consuming excessive CPU or GPU resources, even when the laptop is idle.
Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs:
- Disable unnecessary programs from starting up with the system. You can manage these in the Task Manager's "Startup" tab.
Battery Calibration:
- It's good that you've already performed a battery calibration. However, you may want to repeat the process and observe if there are any changes in the behavior.
Check for Malware:
- Run a thorough antivirus scan to ensure that your system is not infected with any malware that might be causing abnormal power consumption.
Regarding the discrepancy in the full charged capacity (62400 mWh) compared to the designed capacity (70070 mWh), it might be a sign of a battery issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
