Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Community,

I have an HP Victus laptop that originally had a hinge issue. I got it repaired at a private laptop repair shop, where they did some fabrication work to fix the hinge. After that repair, however, my laptop camera stopped working. The error code I’m seeing is 0xA00F4244, and Windows keeps indicating that the camera is not connected, even though it is physically attached.

I've tried troubleshooting steps, such as updating drivers and checking device manager settings, but nothing has worked. I think I may need to replace the camera module itself. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a replacement camera for the HP Victus (Victus by HP Laptop 16-d0354TX (552W7PA)) anywhere, and it's becoming a real challenge.

Would anyone here have information on where I might be able to find a replacement camera compatible with the HP Victus model, or any other potential solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi @ButterThief

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

1. Check the Camera Connection

Since the laptop had a hinge issue and was repaired, it’s very possible that the camera cable might have been slightly displaced or disconnected during the repair. If you're comfortable opening the laptop, I'd recommend carefully checking the camera’s ribbon cable connection to ensure it's securely plugged into the motherboard. Sometimes, even a small misalignment can cause the camera to not be recognized by Windows.

2. Try BIOS Reset and Reboot

Sometimes, resetting the BIOS or clearing the CMOS can help the system properly recognize hardware:

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Restart the laptop and check if Windows detects the camera.

Alternatively, check if the camera appears in the BIOS settings. Some systems show connected hardware in BIOS, which can help determine whether the issue is hardware- or software-related.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Camera Drivers

You mentioned you've tried updating drivers, but it might help to completely uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand the Imaging Devices section.
  • Right-click the camera and choose Uninstall Device.
  • Restart your laptop and allow Windows to automatically reinstall the camera drivers.

4. Check Windows Privacy Settings

Make sure that Windows is allowing apps to access the camera:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure that access to the camera is enabled for all apps that you want to use it with.
