My Victus Gaming Laptop suddenly crashed around 2 days ago, and kept resetting. It says it has a ACPI BIOS error, and even after restoring the system to default settings, it still doesn't work. It tells me that a boot device isn't found, and that my hard disk is (3F0)? Is the only solution to this problem through downloading windows from a separate device and porting it through a USB stick?

Hi @BedsForAll,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Your Victus Gaming Laptop is showing an ACPI BIOS error, and Boot Device Not Found (3F0) means two separate but related issues:

What These Errors Mean

  • ACPI BIOS Error → Power management or BIOS configuration issue.
  • Boot Device Not Found (3F0) → The system cannot detect your storage drive (SSD/HDD) or the boot partition is corrupted.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart and press Esc → F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Confirm:
    • The storage device is detected under System Information.
    • Boot Mode is set to UEFI.
    • Secure Boot is enabled.

If the drive is missing, → possible hardware failure or a loose connection.

2. Run HP Diagnostics

  • Press Esc → F2 at startup.
  • Run Storage Test and System Test.
  • If the storage test fails → the SSD/HDD may need replacement.

3. Reset BIOS

  • In BIOS, choose Restore Defaults.
  • Save and exit.

4. Repair Boot Loader

If the drive is detected but Windows won’t boot:

  • Create a Windows 11 installation USB using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
  • Boot from USB → Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Repair.

5. Reinstall Windows (If Repair Fails)

Yes, your assumption is correct:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
