Hi, my HP Victus 15 shuts down randomly while I'm using it. It has done so eight times now, and that has got me worried because I bought it one month and two weeks ago. At first, I thought it was a minor thing, but the fact that this is repeating is worrisome

Hi @INNOCENTE
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—I completely understand how unsettling it is to see your laptop shut down repeatedly, especially when it’s still new. You’ve done the right thing by monitoring the pattern and reaching out early.
Your HP Victus 15 may be shutting down due to thermal, driver, or power management conflicts. Let’s walk through a clean recovery path to restore stable performance.
Let’s focus on restoring smooth, uninterrupted use.
Step-by-step actions to resolve random shutdowns
1. Update BIOS and system drivers
Outdated firmware can cause power and thermal instability:
- Visit the official HP support page for your model:
HP Victus 15-fb3000 Drivers and BIOS - Download and install the latest BIOS update, chipset driver, and graphics driver
- Restart your system after installation
2. Adjust thermal and performance settings in OMEN Gaming Hub
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub
- Go to Performance Control > Thermal Settings
- Set to Default or Cool mode
- Avoid Performance mode unless actively gaming on a cooling pad
- Monitor fan behavior and temperature readings
3. Disable Fast Startup
This can interfere with proper shutdown and restart cycles:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup
- Save changes and restart
4. Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix tool
This tool checks for hardware faults and resets power management:
Diagnose & Fix – HP Support
5. Monitor battery and power adapter behavior
- Confirm the laptop is using the original HP power adapter
- Check for signs of overheating near the battery or vents
- If shutdowns occur only on battery, test with AC power only and observe
6. Test with clean boot environment
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter
- Under Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all
- Go to Startup > Open Task Manager and disable all startup items
- Restart and observe system behavior
Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If shutdowns persist, I can guide you through thermal logging or testing with external cooling. You’re doing everything right by staying proactive, and I’ll be here to help restore full stability.
