I would like to clarify the details about my laptop's battery. Many articles suggest that using a laptop while charging can harm the battery. My understanding is that when the laptop is plugged in and reaches 100% charge, it stops charging the battery and operates directly on the power supply. Can you confirm if this is correct? This is my first laptop in 20 years, and I'm using it for skill development projects, not gaming

Hi @TitanNatesan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The Victus by HP 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop 15-Fb0000 (598V2AV), including its battery management system. However, I can provide you with general information on laptop battery behavior.
Most modern laptops, including gaming laptops, come with advanced battery management systems that are designed to optimize battery health. When a laptop is plugged in and the battery reaches 100% charge, it often switches to a mode where it runs directly on the power supply without continuously charging the battery. This helps prevent overcharging, which can negatively impact battery longevity.
While using a laptop while charging is generally safe, keeping the battery at a high charge level for extended periods may contribute to long-term capacity loss. It's beneficial to occasionally let the battery discharge and then recharge it to help maintain its health.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
