I recently purchased an Omnibook Ultra Flip and am experiencing a maddening UX malfunction. The haptic click intermittently disables when using a resting thumb for clicking and index finger for cursor control. Click feedback does not return until both fingers are lifted.
My hunch is that the haptic disable feature was designed to limit accident clicks while two finger scrolling. I think the touchpad senses my resting thumb as the second finger in two finger scroll mode. For a user like me who uses a both a resting thumb for clicking and index finger for cursor, it makes the UX unbearable.
Has anyone else that uses a resting thumb for clicking experienced this? Is there a fix?

Hi @TrumpetEv,
Thank you for the response.
Try these steps:
Access Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse to open the Mouse Properties window.
Adjust Touchpad Sensitivity:
- Navigate to the Device Settings tab (usually found in Synaptics or similar touchpad software).
- Click Settings to open the touchpad settings menu.
- Adjust the sensitivity settings to ensure that the touchpad recognizes multiple fingers correctly.
Disable PalmCheck (Palm Rejection):
- In the touchpad settings, look for an option called PalmCheck or Palm Rejection.
- Reduce the PalmCheck sensitivity or disable it entirely to see if it resolves the issue of haptic feedback being disabled.
Update Touchpad Driver:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your touchpad.
- Install the latest driver to ensure your touchpad has the most recent updates and bug fixes.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Use HP Support Assistant to check for any firmware updates available for your device and install them.
Using HP Support Assistant:
Download HP Support Assistant:
- If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, download it from HP Support Assistant.
Run HP Support Assistant:
- Open the program and allow it to scan for your connected devices and for any updates.
Troubleshoot Touchpad Issues:
- Use HP Support Assistant for guided support on adjusting your touchpad settings and resolving any functionality issues.
Double-Check Gestures:
- The gestures such as two-finger scrolling or pinch-to-zoom might interfere with the touchpad's functionality.
- You can double-click the Synaptics icon in the notification area of the taskbar and navigate to Device Settings > Settings to ensure all required gestures are properly enabled or disabled as per your needs.
Custom Gestures Settings:
- Confirm that the touchpad’s custom gesture settings are configured correctly for use with a resting thumb and index finger.
- You can re-enable or disable gestures by selecting the specific gesture, clicking Apply, and then OK.
I hope this helps.

This helped a ton! I tried everything on your list and the one thing that worked was actually uninstalling the touchpad driver. The touchpad worked perfectly after that. When I installed the updated one from HP, the touchpad stopped working again and none of the touchpad configuration options were present. So, I uninstalled it again and it worked again and the configuration options all returned! I guess i will just use this computer without a touchpad driver??
