Hi Guys,
I am looking to upgrade my hard drive space, unfortunately my laptop did not come with a hard drive caddy to hold another HDD, please can someone let me know if it is possible to get a caddy for my laptop AND can they point me in the right direction to find a compatible one.
Many thanks!

I can't see why you need a caddy but you definitely need Hard drive connector and cable part # 931564-001. More information

Hello @CodeJBDA
Your model already comes with an SSD and HDD and you want to add another HDD to it for more storage, correct?
You would be much better off and cheaper to simply add an external USB storage drive.
But you could try adding an optical drive to hard-drive converter caddy if you really had to.
You would most likely need the following to accomplish it.
The HP parts can be purchased via the HP Parts Surfer... http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
931563-001 ODD Cable
931583-001 Optical drive bracket (left side)
931584-001 Optical drive bracket (right side)
931557-001 Optical drive bezel (to make it look pretty on the outside of the case)
An ODD to HDD adapter caddy with compatibility switch like this one... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010CRVKUO/ref=psdc_160354011_t4_B004XIUQYA

Hi There,
There reason for my wanting to do this is because games are getting HUGE (gears 4 is 133gbs!!!) and my internal HDD/SSD aren't able to keep up. I have 2 spare SSD drives that I have from my desktop PC and would love to just slot 1 in for an extra 250gb at little cost.
I found this online
https://www.rebeltech.co.za/14492-orico-internal-25-hdd-caddy-l95ss-v1-pro.html
The price is good and I just want to ensure that it works in my laptop.
Any advice would be appreciated.....
Thanks!

Looks like it would work, but none of us would know for sure as we don't have one to test.
Because your system didn't come with an optical drive to start with, I'm pretty sure the brackets wont be there. That's why I posted those part numbers above. You will have to open the case and look.
Also, most of those caddy's come with a tiny switch that has to be turned on to keep boot errors from occurring. If you have that happen, you will have to take the caddy out and find the switch. If it does not have a switch but causes boot errors, you would need a different caddy. The switch tells the motherboard that the ODD door is closed, thus allowing boot to continue.
That's the best I can offer.
Good luck.

Amazon has something that looks like it'll will work.
"2nd HDD/SSD Caddy for HP Omen 17-an000nr Through 17-an1XXnr"
part No. 931563-001
After shipping and tax it's about the price of a HDD. ($50 CDN)
Seems to have the ZIF connector already.

Hey,
I recently bought the caddy from neomodus (https://www.amazon.com/Caddy-Omen-17-an000nr-Through-17-an1XXnr/dp/B07H3F1L53).
When I opened up my HP Omen 17, I noticed that the ZIF connector already had something plugged into it. Does anyone know what this could be? The cable goes underneath the motherboard. My HP Omen model is 17-an179.
Here are some photos of the inside and the mysterious cable. Any ideas what this could be? I wonder if it is safe to disconnect.

Did you buy the Omen new or used/refurbed? It may have been left behind. Unplug it and give a gentle tug and see if it slides out easily. Or take it apart. Not that difficult just have some new thermal paste on hand for reassembly. I would anyway just to replace the paste with high quality stuff.
