Hello,

I need help accessing the Advanced BIOS settings on my HP OMEN desktop.

System info:

Product: OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0xxx
Product/SKU: 4NM65AA#ABA
System Board ID: 84FD
BIOS Revision: F.35
BIOS Date: 12/19/2023
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700
RAM: 16 GB
Operating System: Windows 11

In the F10 BIOS menu, I only see these tabs:

Main
Security
Configuration
Boot Options
Exit

I do not see any Advanced, Chipset, Power, CPU Configuration, Performance, or Overclocking tab.

I used the official HP BIOS Configuration Utility to export my BIOS settings. The export shows settings such as:

Fast Boot
Runtime Power Management
Idle Power Savings
SATA Power Management

However, these settings do not appear in my normal BIOS menu. When I tried changing them with HP BCU using Command Prompt, it returned Access Denied.

I also tried common key combinations such as Esc → F10, F9 → F10, A + F10, Ctrl + F1, Fn + Tab inside BIOS, Shift + F10, and Ctrl + F10, but none of them showed an Advanced BIOS tab.

Is there any official HP-supported way to access the Advanced BIOS settings on this OMEN Obelisk model with System Board ID 84FD? If these settings are intentionally locked, can HP confirm they are read-only and cannot be changed by the user?

Thank you.

@saintfw,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

On the OMEN Obelisk 875-0xxx platform (System Board ID 84FD), HP intentionally provides a limited consumer BIOS interface. The absence of menus such as Advanced, Chipset, CPU Configuration, Power Management, or Overclocking is normal for this model and BIOS family.

The additional settings visible in the HP BIOS Configuration Utility export are often firmware-level parameters exposed to enterprise management tools, but not necessarily user-editable through the standard F10 BIOS interface.

If HP BCU returns "Access Denied", that typically means one of the following applies:

  • The setting is read-only on this platform
  • The setting requires HP Sure Admin / enterprise provisioning
  • The setting is unsupported for end-user modification
  • The firmware does not expose write permissions for consumer OMEN systems

There is no documented HP-supported key combination or service menu that unlocks a hidden "Advanced BIOS" tab on the OMEN Obelisk 875 series. The common internet methods (Ctrl+F10, A+F10, Ctrl+F1, Fn+Tab, etc.) generally do not work on modern HP consumer desktops because those menus are either removed entirely or restricted to internal engineering firmware builds.

Also note that attempting to force-unlock hidden AMI/Insyde BIOS menus using third-party tools or modified firmware carries a significant risk of rendering the motherboard unbootable aka bricking it.

So in practical terms, yes -HP has effectively locked many advanced firmware options on this platform, and the settings you discovered through BCU are very likely non-user-configurable on retail firmware revisions such as F.35.

If your goal is related to power management, virtualization, fan behavior, or performance tuning, it may help to specify the exact setting you are trying to change, since some functions can sometimes be adjusted through Windows, Intel utilities, or the OMEN Gaming Hub instead of directly through BIOS.

Kind Regards,
