HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 15-dk1009ne
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Community,

I am using an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop – 15-dk1009ne, and I would like to limit the battery charging level to 80% in order to extend battery lifespan.

I have already enabled Adaptive Battery Optimizer in the BIOS settings. However, I noticed that the battery still charges up to 100%, and I am not sure whether this feature actually limits the maximum charge level or only optimizes charging behavior internally.

I have searched through the BIOS settings, HP Support Assistant, and official HP documentation, but I could not find a clear or official way to manually set a charging limit (such as 80%) on my device.

Could you please let me know:

  • Does Adaptive Battery Optimizer limit the battery charge percentage, or does it work differently?

  • Is there an official HP feature or setting to limit battery charging to 80%?

  • Does this option depend on the laptop model or BIOS version?

I would really appreciate any guidance or confirmation from HP experts or experienced users.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi:

Only some select HP business class notebooks have the battery charge limit option in the BIOS.

Your notebook does not support that feature.

See the link below for how to get the most life out of your notebook's battery:

IMHO, the most important thing to not do is to leave your notebook plugged in to AC power 24/7/365 or that may lead to battery swelling.

Once in a while (like once or twice a month), unplug your notebook from A/C power and run it off the battery until the battery charge indicator reaches 15%, then you can plug it in and recharge the battery.

Another forum member indicated that on some HP Omen notebooks, the HP app has a setting to limit the battery charge.

Whether or not it will work for your notebook, unfortunately that I do not know.
