Hi @Renthlei,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop's power button blinks for only one second and then stops working, there might be a few potential causes for this issue. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to **bleep**:

Check for Power Issues:

  • Ensure that the laptop's battery is charged or that the laptop is connected to a power source.
  • If you're using a power adapter, make sure it's functioning properly. Try using a different outlet and adapter if possible.
  • Check if any power-related LEDs on the laptop are lit up, indicating power flow.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the laptop from all power sources and peripherals.
  • Remove the laptop's battery if it's removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power sources.
  • Try turning on the laptop.

Check for External Factors:

  • Make sure there are no USB devices or memory cards connected to the laptop. Sometimes, a faulty external device can cause issues.

Test with Minimal Hardware:

  • Sometimes faulty hardware can prevent the laptop from booting properly. Disconnect all external peripherals and remove any unnecessary hardware components such as additional RAM or hard drives.
  • Try booting the laptop with just the essentials (main battery and power adapter).

Check the RAM:

  • Reseating or replacing the RAM modules might help. Open up the laptop and ensure that the RAM modules are securely seated in their slots.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can sometimes cause laptops to behave strangely. Check if the laptop feels unusually hot.
  • Ensure that the cooling vents are clear and not blocked by dust or debris.

BIOS Reset:

  • In some cases, resetting the BIOS settings to default might help.
  • Depending on your laptop model, you might need to press a specific key (like F2 or Del) during startup to access the BIOS settings. From there, you can find an option to reset to default settings.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you could try performing a system restore to a point where the laptop was functioning properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
