OK thanks. I haven't used that one, but if I can get my hands on one, I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.
You would have to have an active adapter to go from HDMI-out (laptop) to Displayport-in (monitor) and I doubt it would help your situation. Displayport-out to HDMI-in is different and can be done with a cheap adapter.
HDMI ports on the monitor are HDMI 1.4 rated for 1920×1080 at 120 Hz.
Is the settings panel on the monitor set to something different that what your Windows/Nvidia settings are?
Don't enable Freesync on the monitor, you don't have an AMD card (that can cause issues like your describe too).
Can you also try a different HDMI cable? Should be rated for high speed.
Make sure you don't have other unnecessary processes running at the same time in the background.
If that is not the issue, I'm not sure what you have going on.

Hi, I had the same problem, this solution worked for me (Windows 10):
Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Intel(R) Graphics Settings -> Plugged In:
... Change to any other option, Apply and then restart.
