Just got a new HP Omen monitor to go with my Omen laptop to play the motorsports simulator iRacing. On the laptop the game works great but on the monitor it lags bad. Moniotor has display port laptop does not could this be the issue or is there something else I should try? Will an adapter work from the hdmi of my laptop to the DisplayPort of my monitor?

Hello @Zpeck90

Please list the full product number of your laptop and  Monitor so I can better understand whats going on.

Also, please list the exact adapter you are connecting it with.

I have not yet used an adapter I've just used the hdmi port on laptop to monitor.

OK thanks. I haven't used that one, but if I can get my hands on one, I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.

You would have to have an active adapter to go from HDMI-out (laptop) to Displayport-in (monitor) and I doubt it would help your situation. Displayport-out to HDMI-in is different and can be done with a cheap adapter.

HDMI ports on the monitor are HDMI 1.4 rated for 1920×1080 at 120 Hz.

Is  the settings panel on the monitor set to something different that what your Windows/Nvidia settings are?

Don't enable Freesync on the monitor, you don't have an AMD card (that can cause issues like your describe too).

Can you also try a different HDMI cable? Should be rated for high speed.

Make sure you don't have other unnecessary processes running at the same time in the background.

If that is not the issue, I'm not sure what you have going on.

I tried another hdmi same result with resolution turned way to the point the graphics look horrible it works much better but not perfect. I'm to the point where I'm ready to send the monitor back and just continue using the small laptop screen..

Well, unless you can test that monitor on another PC to see if the same issue occurs, you might be better off returning it as you pointed out.

Sorry I cant help you more than I have.

Hi, I had the same problem, this solution worked for me (Windows 10):

Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Intel(R) Graphics Settings -> Plugged In:

... Change to any other option, Apply and then restart.
