My laptop's CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS)maximize to 95-100°c while gaming, even when i am doing a light task the temp is higher the usual. Maybe the cpu 's thermal paste need to reapply and the laptop need a deep cleaning?Screenshot 2025-11-15 192352.png

Hi @Luke1023,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can see from your screenshots that your Victus laptop’s CPU is hitting 95–100°C during gaming and even staying high during light tasks (OMEN Gaming Hub shows 92°C on Default mode). That’s definitely above the safe comfort zone for Ryzen 5 7535HS, which ideally should stay under 85°C under heavy load. Here’s what’s happening and what you can do:

Why This Happens

  • Dust buildup inside the cooling system restricts airflow.
  • Thermal paste degradation over time reduces heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink.
  • Aggressive performance mode (Default or Turbo) pushes voltage and clock speeds.
  • Ambient temperature and blocked vents can worsen heat retention.

Recommended Steps to Lower CPU Temperature

1. Check Ventilation & Clean Airflow

  • Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface.
  • Ensure vents are not blocked.
  • Use compressed air to blow dust from vents (short bursts, from outside only).
  • HP guide: Reducing Heat Inside Your Laptop

2. Adjust Performance Settings

  • In OMEN Gaming Hub, switch from Default to ECO or Quiet mode for light tasks.
  • Enable Max Fan Speed during gaming for better cooling.
  • Reduce CPU Boost in BIOS or OMEN Hub if available.

3. Update BIOS & Drivers

  • HP often releases thermal management updates.
  • Go to Official HP® Support Downloads → Enter your Victus model → Install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

4. Reapply Thermal Paste & Deep Cleaning

  • If the laptop is over 1 year old or used heavily, the thermal paste may have dried.
  • HP recommends professional service for this step because opening the laptop incorrectly can damage components.

5. Monitor Temps

  • Use OMEN Gaming Hub or HWMonitor to track CPU/GPU temps.
  • Safe gaming range: CPU < 90°C, GPU < 85°C.

⚠️ Important

If temps stay at 95–100°C for long periods, it can cause thermal throttling and shorten CPU lifespan. Don’t ignore this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
