Hi @Vedang08,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with low FPS while playing games using battery power on your Laptop.

A) Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

B) If the issue still persists, refer to the below steps to further troubleshoot and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Power Settings:

  • Battery Saver Mode: Ensure your laptop isn't in Battery Saver mode, which can throttle performance to extend battery life. Go to Settings > System > Battery and check if Battery Saver is on. If it is, try turning it off or adjust the settings to favor performance.
  • Power Plan: Make sure your power plan is set to High Performance. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and select the High Performance plan.

Graphics Settings:

  • Graphics Power Management: Check if your laptop is set to use the integrated graphics while on battery. You might want to force it to use the dedicated GPU. For NVIDIA graphics, you can adjust this in the NVIDIA Control Panel (right-click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel). Go to Manage 3D Settings > Power Management Mode and set it to Prefer Maximum Performance.
  • Game Settings: Lower the in-game settings to reduce the load on your GPU and CPU. This can help improve FPS while on battery.

Thermal Throttling:

  • Cooling: Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated and not overheating. Overheating can cause thermal throttling, which reduces performance. Clean out vents and fans if they are dusty.
  • Cooling Pads: Consider using a cooling pad to help keep temperatures down.

Battery Health:

  • Battery Condition: Check the health of your battery. If it's degraded, it might not provide enough power for high-performance tasks. You can check battery health through HP Support Assistant or similar tools.

Driver Updates:

  • Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Go to the NVIDIA or AMD website to download the latest drivers for your GPU.

Background Processes:

  • Close Unnecessary Programs: Make sure there are no unnecessary applications running in the background that could be consuming resources.

Power Adapter:

  • Using the Adapter: For optimal performance, try gaming while plugged into the power adapter. This allows the laptop to use its full power capabilities without the restrictions imposed by battery power.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
