Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Whether the laptop came pre-owned, refurbished.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:

Power Reset – Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery if it’s removable, then press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery and adapter, and then power on.

BIOS Recovery – HP laptops have a BIOS recovery feature. Turn off the laptop, then press and hold Windows + B while pressing the power button for 2–3 seconds. Release the power button but continue holding Windows + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions if prompted.

I hope this helps.

My mom bought me the laptop but I’ve never set this type of password. I’ve tried to remove my battery, also I can’t get pass the power on password screen to access my bios system. I have an HP 15-ef1200.

Hi @Soconfused24,

Thanks for your response.

Please note that HP does not set BIOS or power-on passwords on laptops prior to delivery. These passwords are configured by the user and are stored securely on the BIOS chip on the motherboard. HP does not keep a record of any user-set passwords.

Because the password is stored on the motherboard, there is no method to bypass or reset it without replacing the system board. In cases where a power-on password is forgotten or unknown, the only authorized solution is a replacement of the motherboard by an HP service provider.

Regards
