Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So my hp laptop has been getting very hot because of cold war and I've noticed modern warfare is also making it hotter. Gpu temp is fine but it's the cpu I'm worried about. I've seen online the healthy range is 70-75 while gaming but that's what I get while being idle in multiplayer menu. I'm not sure if it's a defective cooling thing or if I need new thermal paste but I just bought this so I don't really want 1500 to just go down the drain.

You are lucky. I read many people having CPU goes up over 90°C . If you wish, please try one of the following cooling pads
