Anyone have any ideas on how to lower the rpm of my fans? The lowest I can get my omen 17 (2023) is 1800 rpm. It is in balanced, manual with the fan curve selected in the omen gaming hub. I went into the bios as well and turned off fan always on but the fans still kick on after about 30 seconds when turning the laptop on. If I put it on “auto” the fan speed is 2000 rpm always. And again the lowest I can make it is 1800 it seems like. I saw people in the forums be able to get their fan speed to 1200 rpm,l but I have had no such luck, any help appreciated

Hi @JohnMorrone84,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration with the fan speed on your HP Omen 17 (2023).
Here are some potential solutions based on the information you've provided:
1. Update BIOS and Omen Gaming Hub:
- Ensure you have the latest BIOS and Omen Gaming Hub versions installed. These updates might include optimizations for fan control or address known bugs.
2. Explore Omen Gaming Hub settings further:
- Check if there are any hidden settings or additional manual fan curves within the Omen Gaming Hub. Some users report finding fan speed options beyond the initial presets.
- Experiment with different thermal profiles ("Balanced," "Performance," "Comfort") and see if they offer lower fan speeds while maintaining acceptable temperatures.
3. Monitor temperatures:
- Use software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures. You can then adjust the fan curve in Omen Gaming Hub based on actual temperature readings rather than estimated load.
- Ensure proper ventilation for your laptop to aid passive cooling. Don't block air vents by placing the laptop on soft surfaces.
4. Check for hardware issues:
- If the fan speeds seem abnormally high even under light workloads, consider contacting HP support to rule out any hardware malfunctions with the cooling system. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
Additional notes:
- Reducing fan speed can lead to higher temperatures, potentially impacting performance and system stability. Adjust cautiously and monitor temperatures closely.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
