OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-n0000 (63B17AV)

This is my 6th time explaining the issue. Earlier I tried agent call me - no use , WhatsApp support is a joke , have to wait a day for a single message. Almost wasted a whole week like that. Support specialist says "transferring to a higher segment team" and just vanishes to the shadow realm. End of story. Very bad support experience so far. Now this forum is the only way remaining for me to ask for help. Please help me man , I can't use my laptop properly, it's causing me disruption in my life.

ISSUE-

My hp-omen laptop display flickers and leaves weird after-images. When it flickers , the laptop hangs for 5secs or more however adjusting the laptop lid fixes the issue temporarily. Also , adjusting the lid causes more/less flicker depending on the lid alignment. I tested with a external display, there it works fine , only in laptop's internal screen the problem seems to be happening. Display hardware issue maybe.

Every thing is up-to-date, GPU drivers etc. Laptop itself is less than 7 months old, never dropped.

Hi @ChaoNEil ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration with the situation and the lack of progress you've experienced with support. I can help you troubleshoot further and guide you toward potential solutions.

Here are some steps you can take:

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

1. Isolate the Issue:

  • Boot into Safe Mode: This helps determine if the issue is caused by software or a driver issue. If the flickering persists in Safe Mode, it's likely a hardware problem.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure your BIOS and display drivers are updated to the latest versions directly from the HP website. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause display issues. Software and Drivers for OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-n0000

2. Hardware Troubleshooting:

  • Connect an External Display: You already mentioned it works fine, confirming the issue is likely with the internal display panel or its connecting cables.
  • Test with a Different Cable (if possible): If your Omen uses a removable display cable, try replacing it with a compatible one to eliminate cable faults.
