Subject: Urgent Support Required for HP Charger Compatibility Issue

Dear HP Support Team,

I recently purchased an HP adapter, and I am facing compatibility issues with my HP Pavilion RTX 3050 variant. The charger I have is a 200W adapter (HP Part No: M31686-003, TPN-DA23) with a 4.5mm blue pin, but I could not find any official documentation or support regarding its compatibility with my laptop model.

I have already checked the HP official website, but I can only find information on the HP ZBook 230W Slim Smart Adapter and other models, not the one I possess. There seems to be a lack of clarity in HP’s official support regarding this specific adapter, which is causing confusion and inconvenience.

I request immediate clarification on:

1. Whether the 200W HP adapter I have is compatible with my Pavilion RTX 3050 variant.

2. If not, why is there no proper documentation on this adapter on the official HP website?

3. A resolution for this issue—either a confirmation of compatibility or a proper replacement solution.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will be left with no choice but to escalate this matter to the consumer forum to address the lack of transparency and support regarding HP’s product documentation and compatibility information.

Looking forward to your prompt response.

@Adityagaraf,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Check the Original Adapter Wattage:

  • The HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2000 series typically uses a 150W adapter (with a 7.4mm barrel).
  • If your laptop originally came with a 150W charger, using a 200W charger should not damage the laptop, but the 4.5mm pin might be incompatible.

Check if the Laptop Recognizes the Adapter:

  • Plug in the 200W adapter and power on the laptop.
  • If the battery does not charge or the laptop does not recognize the adapter, it is likely not compatible.

Voltage & Connector Issues:

  • Your 200W adapter (M31686-003) uses a 4.5mm blue pin
  • The Pavilion 15-ec2000 series generally requires a 7.4mm barrel adapter
  • If the plug doesn’t fit securely or the laptop fails to detect the charger, you may need a compatible 150W charger (or an adapter tip).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
