Hello HP Support Team,

I am writing to ask for help regarding a recurring and very frustrating issue with my HP Victus 15 laptop.

I am experiencing frequent blue screen crashes with the error:

DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION (Stop Code: 0x133)

The crashes happen randomly — sometimes after heavy usage and sometimes even during light or normal use. In many cases, the system freezes completely and crashes.

I followed the troubleshooting guidance provided by HP Support, including:

  • Updating the BIOS to the latest available version

  • Installing all recommended chipset and system drivers

  • Updating graphics drivers from the official HP website

  • Resetting BIOS settings to defaults

  • Running HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics (component tests), which reported no errors

    No luck please help

Hi  @Shishq,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how repeated blue screen crashes can, I appreciate the steps you’ve already taken, Let’s work together to narrow this down further.

Could you kindly confirm the below details :

Whether the crashes occur more often during specific activities .

If you notice any unusual sounds, overheating, or performance slowdowns before the crash.

Whether you’ve connected any external devices when the issue happens.

Here are a few  steps you can try :

  1. Check SSD firmware: DPC Watchdog Violation is often linked to storage drivers. Please ensure your SSD firmware is updated to the latest version with the hlpe of the support website - https://support.hp.com/
  2. Update Intel Rapid Storage Technology: If your system uses RST, updating this driver can help stabilize disk communication.
  3. Disable Fast Startup: Sometimes Fast Startup causes watchdog errors; disabling it can reduce random crashes.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Shishq,

Thanks for your response and thank you for confirming the steps you’ve already tried, Since the issue persists,

let’s try few advanced troubleshooting steps :

Clean boot test: Boot with only essential services and drivers. If the crashes stop, we can isolate which third‑party driver or service is conflicting.

UEFI Memory test: Although diagnostics showed no issues, intermittent RAM errors can still trigger watchdog violations.

Windows re-install(Kindly back-up all the data before reinstallation process 😞 If all hardware checks out, a re-install  can eliminate corruption in system drivers that diagnostics don’t detect.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
As you can see from the pic the crashes happned becasue of the GPU , is thier anyway to solve this ?
because all testing looks normal and the only happens when the laptop is nnot under a load
Gaming = running normally
Lite load or Idle = crushing

Hi @Shishq,

Thanks for your response.

Thank you for sharing the additional details and the observation that the crashes seem linked to GPU activity during idle or light load. Since you’ve already tried advanced troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, the best course of action now is to have your device examined directly by our certified technicians.

Our authorized HP service centers can run diagnostics on the GPU and related components. They’ll be able to confirm whether the problem is hardware‑related or due to firmware/driver behaviour under low load conditions, and provide the most effective solution.
