Hello everyone.

My laptop has a problem, The keyboard does not work when I turn on the laptop.

But before Windows comes up, for example, the keyboard works perfectly in the BIOS menu.

I reinstalled Windows but it didn't help

Hi @Erfanes,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue might be related to software rather than hardware since the keyboard works in the BIOS menu but not in Windows. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all your drivers, especially the keyboard driver, are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager in Windows.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve compatibility issues. Make sure your operating system is fully updated.
  • Check Keyboard Settings: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Device Manager. Look for the keyboard under "Keyboards" and ensure it is enabled and functioning properly.
  • Try Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly during startup) and see if the keyboard works there. If it does, it could indicate that a third-party software or driver is causing the issue.
  • Disable Startup Programs: Some third-party applications may interfere with the keyboard functionality. Try disabling startup programs one by one to see if any of them are causing the problem.
  • Run System File Checker: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type "sfc /scannow" to run the System File Checker, which can repair corrupted system files that may be causing the issue.
  • Check for Malware: Run a full scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware or viruses that could be affecting your system.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: If none of the above solutions work, you could try resetting your BIOS settings to default. Be cautious when doing this, as changing BIOS settings incorrectly could cause other issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
