  • My hp victus 16 s0038AX screen flickers on and off while gaming on power source. I've updated every driver, graphic driver (nvidia gpu) available to this date but nothing seems to work also can't seem to update uefi diagnosis tool it requires an usb drive . I don't know if it's some hardware issues and The display flickering is also associated with flickering of the rgb light on the laptop keyboards I tried every solutions mention but nothing seems to work. Also when the flicker on off occurs while it's off I can still see the screen it's just the brightness is like very very low. even while I'm not gaming it still flickers to the point that it still flickers on the hp diagnostic page while running tests. Plss address the problem and what should be covered in the warranty since this still a brand new laptop

Try these steps:

Update BIOS:

  • Ensure that you have the latest BIOS version installed. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your laptop. Follow the instructions provided to perform the update.

Check Power Settings:

  • Adjust the power settings to ensure optimal performance while plugged in.
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose your preferred plan > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
    • Look for Display settings > Enable adaptive brightness and make sure it is disabled.

Update NVIDIA Graphics Driver:

  • Ensure that you have the latest NVIDIA graphics driver installed.
    • Visit the NVIDIA website and download the latest driver for your GPU model. Perform a clean install of the driver.

Monitor RGB Lighting:

  • Since the flickering of the screen is associated with the flickering of the RGB lights on the keyboard, check the software controlling the RGB lights.
    • Open the HP Omen Command Center or similar software used for controlling RGB settings. Ensure all settings are correctly configured and update the software if necessary.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues.
    • You may need a USB drive to update the diagnostics tool. Download the tool from the HP Support website and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB drive.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that all internal connections are secure, particularly those related to the display and keyboard.
    • If you are comfortable, open the laptop and check the connectors. This should be done carefully or by a professional technician.

Adjust Game Settings:

  • Lower the graphical settings in your games to see if that reduces the flickering.
  • Check the refresh rate and resolution settings in the game's options menu.

Hey thanks for the suggestion but nothing seems to work. I update the bios and my drivers to the latest available and the flickering still occurred. I ran the HP Hardware Diagnostic but when running the test it's still flickering but the test results showed nothing wrong. I did disable the AMD integrated graphics card and switch to the discrete one and still the problem did not resolve. Any other suggestions should I try or just replace it with the warranty?

Hey Ari,

I have the same problem with my Victus. A friend and I bought a Victus about a year ago, and he started having similar issues after around one year. Fortunately, his problems appeared after 11 months and 2 weeks, so his warranty was still valid. HP repaired his laptop (after about a month of chatting with HP support). His mainboard and internal cables were broken.

 

On my Victus, the problems started 12 months and 3 weeks after I bought it, and now HP has told me that the warranty has expired. I don’t know what to do.

 

How old is your Victus?

My victus are about 1 year old too and HP says that my warranty is still active and I hope it can be fixed by HP as I still waiting for their support team.
