Hi @Darkknight1614,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how concerning it must be to have your laptop shut down unexpectedly, especially when it’s still fairly new. Let’s explore what might be causing this and work towards a solution.
- Have you noticed any pattern, such as the laptop shutting down only at a specific battery percentage or during high-performance tasks?
- Does the issue occur when the laptop is plugged into power, or is it only happening on battery?
- Have you observed any overheating or unusual fan activity before the shutdown occurs?
Let's try these steps.
Check Battery Health:
- On Windows, open Command Prompt and type powercfg /batteryreport. Review the report for signs of battery degradation.
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Visit the HP support website and ensure your BIOS and all drivers, particularly chipset and power management drivers, are up to date.
Run HP Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then select System Diagnostics. Run a full hardware test, including the battery and system board.
Test with Direct Power:
- Use the laptop while plugged in to see if the issue persists. If the problem doesn’t occur, it may indicate a battery or power management issue.
Reset Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and restore default power settings. You can also try creating a new power plan to see if it resolves the issue.
If the issue continues, it might be a hardware fault, and I’d recommend contacting HP support for warranty service.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
